Well, this really is dependent on the destination and the amount of preparation involved. The most important point to remember is that you should allow your pet PLENTY of time to get acclimatized to the new airline approved travel crate – we recommend at least 2 weeks.
At the time of booking, we will arrange to have the airline approved travel crate couriered to you on an overnight delivery service. It is recommended that your pet has at least 2 weeks to get used to the crate, but ideally your pet should have as much time as possible- this will really help to calm your pet’s nerves on the day of the flight and help your pet to feel safe and secure during their journey.
Another factor to take into consideration is applying for any pet travel paperwork. Again, depending on the destination, you may need to apply for pet import permits and these will need to be obtained prior to your pet’s flight. Of course if you are looking to book a full service, PBS Pet Travel can take care of pet import permit applications for you.
If your pet is travelling anywhere outside of the E.U. (Apart from the USA and Canada) Then your pet will need a DEFRA ( UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) export health certificate and PBS Pet Travel will be on hand to apply for this for you if required.
If you wish to apply for the DEFRA export health certificate yourself, you can do so by contacting DEFRA on: 01228 403600.
As a general rule, we require at least three weeks notice to make a booking. We can sometimes process bookings quicker than this, however making a last-minute pet travel booking is not recommended, due to the amount of detailed preparation work involved.
To make a pet booking with the airline, we must have the below information. So please make sure you have this ready for when we send you our booking form:
Depending on destination your pet is travelling to and the services required from PBS Pet Travel, we may also need copy veterinary documentation such as vaccination records and blood test results
If you do not have a travel date for your pet relocation, but would like to secure our services and have the airline approved travel crate delivered in advance, this is not a problem at all.
Please contact your pet travel agent who will be able to let you know the next steps
We understand that sometimes things change and we will always endeavour to be as flexible as possible with any date changes to your pet’s travel date, however please be sure to read our terms and conditions attached to your pet travel quotation, which will outline further information.
So, if you have received a quotation and are ready to book, please get in touch with your personal pet travel agent, who will advise you of the next steps. Please also visit this link to find out a little more about how the process works.
